What You Will Do:
Our Interns have the opportunity to provide wide-ranging support for client engagements, whilst building their technical foundation. As an intern at Guidehouse in the Netherlands, you can choose between two tracks:
Work Experience Internship:
You will work in a team on complex problems and deliver high quality client-ready work. As our clients are mostly large, complex corporates and financial institutions, Interns will be coached to demonstrate business professionalism and an ability to grasp new concepts quickly to perform effectively in the client environment.
Core Responsibilities
- Deliver on multiple projects, under the guidance and support of an Associate Mentor
- Uphold Guidehouse’s values of respect, integrity, innovation, stewardship, and excellence and support our culture of inclusion & diversity
- Shadow leader’s client interviews or conduct interviews to capture information and provide it in a succinct and cohesive format
- Keep key stakeholders informed on project updates
- Synthesise data into clear analyses and provide fact-based recommendations and solutions for drafting summary reports and presentations
- Ensure that documentation is properly managed, quality checked and organised
- Build good relationships with the wider team and colleagues and participate in team, office and industry events where there are opportunities
Thesis Internship:
As a thesis intern, you will conduct research on a sustainability topic you are passionate about. You will be coached by an internal supervisor, guiding your way until thesis finalization. Thesis interns at Guidehouse are offered the opportunity to gain first-hand experience as a supporting consultant next to their research. Possible thesis topics are listed below but we are open to your suggestions as well.
Suggestive Thesis Topics
- Measuring positive impact of financial flows in transition finance
- Understanding transitioning financial portfolios to support decarbonisation
- Defining effective approaches to assess transition risks of investment and lending portfolios
- Translating the energy transition into economic growth opportunities for local communities
- International climate finance ecosystems and roadblocks for increased investments
- GHG accounting best practices for financial institutions.
What You Will Need:
- Currently studying a relevant Master’s degree (e.g. engineering, energy science, economics, physics, mathematics, business, geography, sustainable finance, finance, sustainability science, or other studies related to sustainability)
- No restrictions to work in the Netherlands and enrolled in a university
- Fluency in English. Fluency in other languages where we have presence (such as Dutch or German) is a bonus.
- No employment restrictions from a former employer (such as a non-compete) that will prevent you from performing the job responsibilities as described across our clients.
- Successful completion of a background check and employment verification.
- Experienced with Microsoft products
- 0 + Years of experience
What would be nice to have:
- Strong interest in commercial sustainability and motivation to go the extra mile to support our clients on their sustainability journey
- To be a team-player who demonstrates the willingness and ability to work effectively in diverse teams and collaborate with colleagues at all levels
- A critical thinker with a strong eye for detail and creative in problem solving
- Able to show a working knowledge of data collection, organisational and analytical skills
- Able to work on multiple engagements (thesis and/or projects) and show a good understanding of the project objectives and client expectations
- Comfortable communicating and willing to be coached in presenting to colleagues and potentially clients
- A strong curiosity, and/or experience, in a relevant industry topic such as:
- Sustainability (e.g., greenhouse gas accounting standards, circular economy, abatement strategies, ESG, nature-based solutions, carbon markets)
- Innovation (e.g., advancement of new ideas and technologies)
- Climate risk, resilience, and adaptation (e.g., TCFD)
- Social equity
- Environmental and sustainability policy appraisal
- Energy (e.g., hydrogen economy, advanced energy technologies, electricity power and gas industries)
